Website Colour Tips

Colours are a non-verbal communication. They have symbolism and meaning. The eye and the mind perceive certain colours and the meanings we associate with each colour, and it must immediately attract the holder's eye, convey a message, and create a brand indentity. Much of the human reaction to colour is subliminal and people are generally unaware of the persuasive effects of colour. It is therefore useful to keep this in mind when deciding which colours to use on your website.

Colour Blindness

Another thing to consider when choosing your colours is that about 5 to 8 % of males are at least a little colour blind and 1% of females.

There are three types of colour blindness

• Protanopia - red blind
• Deuteranopia - green blind
• Tritanopia - blue blind
